The Hunter's Moon is the moon of October, the last month in the Stonewylde Wheel of the Year. Here the three aspects of the Triple Moon are depicted. The waning moon encircles a crow, symbolic of the Crone and reflecting the Samhain colours and totem. The full moon is central and dominant, showing the triumph of the Winter Solstice and the ripe fullness of the Mother in the night skies. The waxing new moon is the bow of the Maiden, the emblem of Imbolc who brings new promise and magical awakening. The maiden huntress defeats the winter's icy grip on the earth. Hunter's Moon shows the cycles of survival and change, the hunter and the hunted, death and rebirth.
